The new IT Security Community is designed to provide all participants and stakeholders (end users, vendors, regulators, supervisors, interest organisations) with a new and common platform to exchange ideas, views and provide solutions to face the increasing importance of security in the daily working of businesses.

Security in enterprises is changing rapidly. People in lines of business (LOBs) are increasingly taking ownership of business relevant technology and are hence the risk owners within their respective organizations. As a result, they are increasingly carrying more weight and playing a more active role in the procurement of information security technology and services.

While IDC does not foresee double digit growth (CAGR 3,9% 2015-2019) in the market for IT security software solutions in the Nordics, growth still clearly outpaces the overall IT market and expects to reach €503 million in 2019. The adoption of mobile devices and cloud solutions, combined with the ever-increasing sophistication of cyber attacks, means that companies continue to invest in security solutions.

Security threats become ever more complex as cyber criminals become more professional and cunning. According to Per Melker, Managing Director IDC Nordic this calls for a new risk-based approach to information security, including establishing policies and using analytical tools for securing sensitive data & devices proactively regardless of physical location.

For IT vendors to succeed in the security software market, the need to view the world from the user perspective and hence offer the right solution that matches the client’s overall IT security policy and setup is of increasing importance. While it is not mandatory for the clients fully and completely to understand the marketplace and the available IT security solutions, Svend Erik Kundby-Nielsen, CEO of swipx highlights the necessity for the clients to obtain the visibility of the solutions available.
