Based on his experience at IBM in Denmark and abroad, Svend Erik Kundby-Nielsen has just launched his portal, swipx.com to make it easy for companies to find the software they need, here and now.
“I wanted to create a tool that could find and narrow the supply. The issue could, for example, be: what is there right now of CRM systems in Danish?”
Svend Erik Kundby-Nielsen refers to an analysis released by The Danish Chamber of Commerce in the spring titled “Barriers and opportunities for Danish SMEs in the digital growth culture.”
“In particular I noticed that almost 60 percent of the respondents said they do not have time to familiarize themselves with the possibilities and options in the software market. That is deeply worrying. For ordinary businesses, it is simply too difficult and time-consuming to keep up with software development “says Kundby-Nielsen, who from day one has thought the new portal as international. Therefore, is has initially been launched in English with already more than 1000 software companies.
If you include the very small ones, there are more than 21 million companies in the EU. And totally the turnover of software licenses in Europe amount to approximately 550 billion DKK each year. So there ought to be enough to address this demand, says Kundby-Nielsen.
The architecture and the data model of how to categorize different software, he has developed and written himself. But many tasks he gets done in the city.
“I am very aware of where my weaknesses are, so I outsource everything that makes sense, thus creating flexibility. I have for example chosen to use a Danish web agency – for three reasons. It is less risky. I want a Danish touch – or design if you will. And we sit near to each other and can have a close dialogue. ”
For buyers of software, it is free to use the new portal. For sellers, there are four options to fully and comprehensively present their software.
At one end of the scale, a software manufacturer can have a basic listing including the name, a brief description, and other key characteristics of its software.
Additionally, there are three subscription models where you can, for example, retrieve information on how potential customers are moving around on the site when they are looking for software.
In another of the subscription models (Readiness) the solutions manufacturer can get access and insights about markets that he may want to go into and his readiness for entering new markets. Furthermore, suppliers can choose to specify a certain potential business customers and swipx will then narrow down the client(set) applicable to their solution.
